Name: Shoeb Arif Sarang 
Category of Disability: Visually Impaired  

 

Shoeb Sarang was going to a normal school before joining Ummeed the Hope Special School. He then had low vision and was only able to read big, bold prints. Multiple eye surgeries over the years resulted in Shoeb becoming completely visually impaired. Shoeb enrolled into Ummeed School in 2011 and has shown tremendous improvement over the span of 9 years. It was here that he learnt to use Braille. Shoeb has also learnt to use a typewriter. He even learnt to use the white cane and now moves about independently. He takes great interest in learning and is able to quickly grasp and master new concepts. He has leadership potential and has taken lead in various awareness programs, Sports events and Inter-school competitions. Shoeb has been awarded with distinction on various occasions. He appeared for SSC examinations in the academic year 2018-19 through National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and cleared with an outstanding 50%. Shoeb is now preparing to appear for HSC examinations. Currently, he is also undergoing vocational training.

 

Name: Khan Fazal Ayyub

Category of Disability: Intellectual Disability and Visually Impaired

 

Fazal’s parents testify to the improvement Fazal has shown since he joined Ummeed the Hope Special School. He has learnt to write alphabets and numbers on Braille and can now use the Abacus. In the academic year 2018-19, Fazal appeared for HSC examinations through National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) and cleared with an outstanding 68%. Fazal is currently employed at Reliance Mart, Kalwa, as Sales boy.

 

Name: Gaikwad Shalini Sanjay

Category of Disability: Mild intellectual

When Shalini was admitted to Ummeed the Hope school she could not balance herself. Improvement is still seen on her. Now she can write two to three letter words, do addition and subtraction on her own as previously she wasn’t able to learn.

 

Name: Tabish Shaikh

Category of Disability: Visually Impaired

 

Tabish Shaikh joined Ummeed the Hope Special School in 2016 and is visually impaired in one eye. Tabish appeared for SSC examinations through National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) in the academic year 2017-18 and is currently employed in Ummeed Foundation as Office boy Cum Technician.

 

Name: Parmar Ashish Vinod

Category of disability: Behaviour Problem & Low Vision

 

When Ashish was admitted to Ummeed the Hope School he didn’t had control on his speech as he is stammer. Now he can learn poem and clear improvement is seen in him.

 

Name: Sayed Tabrez Shams Iqbal Ahmed

Category of Disability: Physically Challenged

Tabrez could barely walk when he joined Ummeed the Hope Special School. With timely physiotherapy, Tabrez is now able to walk independently. He is very sharp minded and has delivered poetry and short talks on various events. He himself requests for opportunity to give a performance. He is very determined to become somebody in life.

 

Name: Makrani Mushtaq Ishtiyaq

Category of Disability: Multiple Disabilities

 

When Mushtaq’s parents approached Ummeed the Hope Special School for admission, Mushtaq was unable to sit in a place. He wasn’t toilet trained and would even make attempts to harm himself. He could not even balance his posture. Through our school’s intervention, Mushtaq is now able to sit in one place for a longer period of time than before. He has also learnt to independently answer nature’s call. He has also reduced his attempts to harm himself.

Name: Prajapati Aman Govind

Category of Disability: Physically & Intellectually Challenged

 

Aman could barely move and he could not communicate he didn’t have toilet training when he joined Ummeed the Hope Special School. With timely physiotherapy, Aman is now improved and he is able to walk independently. With timely training he is improving in communication and he is now able to move.

 

Name: Shaikh Tayyaba Jarar Ahmed

Category of Disability: Physically & Intellectually Challenged

 

In the beginning, Tayyaba used to crawl like an eight-month old baby and had to be carried. Because of physiotherapy, she is now able to walk with the help of a walker.

 

Name: Badhale Ayaan Javed

Category of Disability: Quadriplegic

 

Ayaan was unable to sit upright and maintained a stooped posture. He would not be able to grasp anything with his hand. Through regular physiotherapy, he is now able to sit upright, hold objects with his hand, lift his neck and maintain balance.
